On Maverick’s journey
around the world

Tom Schröder - Maverick’s Owner & CdM major shareholder

Summer 2024 is the bench test in preparation of a world tour that will take Maverick with the Owners' family constantly on board to distant destinations in the Northern and Southern hemisphere.

CdM: Today we are speaking with the masterminds behind the ambitious global journey aboard Maverick, Tom Schroder. Can you tell us about the vision driving this incredible adventure?

T.S.: The overarching vision behind our journey around the world aboard Maverick is to immerse ourselves in diverse natural environments and to engage with and learn from various cultures. This trip is not just about seeing new places; it's about experiencing the world's richness in its many forms, from the wild landscapes to the vibrant cultures that inhabit them.

CdM: That sounds fascinating. What are some of the key destinations you plan to visit, and how do you intend to explore them?

T.S.: We have plans to travel to the highest latitudes of the Northern hemisphere, including crossing the Northwest Passage, to North and South America, New Zealand, and Australia, just to name a few destinations. To truly explore these regions, in specific cases we'll be bringing along two campers, which will allow us to venture into the hinterlands. This setup will enable us to explore remote areas, gain deeper insights into the local ecosystems, and connect more intimately with the communities we encounter.

Maverick has been sailing the Med far and wide on her maiden voyage.

On their journey they have enjoyed both the wildest and most secluded shores and bays of some of the small islands (Eolian archipelago) off the Sicilian coast and Sardinia's, and towns full of history and architectonical beauties such as Siracusa and Taormina.

CdM: It sounds like there is a deeper purpose to your travel. Could you elaborate on that?

T.S.: Definitely. Some of the destinations on our world tour have been selected with a specific purpose in mind. Our sons and the staff of our Family Office have formed a total of five teams. These teams are responsible for selecting social projects along our route in some of the poorer regions of the world. Each project will be supported with a six-figure amount. During our trip, we will visit these projects and engage with them on-site.

CdM: That's wonderful. I understand there is a personal aspect to this journey related to your family?

T.S.: Yes, that's correct. Our youngest son, Fil, is a special child in our family. Because of him, our social engagement along the route focuses on the support and promotion of children with disabilities. This aspect of our journey is very close to our hearts.

CdM: It's inspiring to see such a blend of adventure and philanthropy. What do you hope to achieve through these efforts?

T.S.: We hope to not only broaden our own horizons but also to make a meaningful impact on the communities we visit. By supporting social projects and promoting awareness for children with disabilities, we aim to give back and make a positive difference in the world.
