Mimi La Sardine, the 5th Nauta Air in only 5 years. 110 feet of elegance and design. Can you share the secret of this success with us? The whole CDM Nauta Air range is centered on achieving a high quality LIFESTYLE for enjoying time with family and friends immersed in the beauty of the yacht’s natural surroundings. The philosophy behind the general concept of the CDM NAUTA AIR range is to merge into the natural elements by giving the same importance to outdoor and indoor living areas, creating a seamless connection between the two.
The design is focused on elegance combined with the functionality that’s necessary aboard explorer yachts: her lines pleases the eye from any viewpoint and combines timeless design with reliability, safety and sturdy seaworthiness. These blue water yachts feature the contents and substance of long range explorers and the luxurious comforts of elegant “navettas”.
The market has received the CDM Nauta Air projects very well and we hope that this will continue in the future. A plus to this end is having the possibility to tailor the interiors to different design concepts while keeping the range’s exterior in the same family style. MIMI LA SARDINE was a very interesting project in that sense, having interiors that were inspired by very original and innovative input from the Owners.

A lovely owner keen on design who worked with you often during the yacht’s build. What is the result of this cooperation and what was the starting point for the whole project? The design concept behind MIMI’ LA SARDINE was very much based on the brief from the Owners and was fuelled by a constant interaction between them and our studio. The result shows some very innovative ideas that give this yacht an original touch. MIMI’ LA SARDINE is characterized by two main key features: ELEGANCE and SPACE. All areas aboard are well proportioned, balanced and with the correct ergonomics. The result is a welcoming, relaxing and inviting ambience that is in some ways similar to the one aboard Narvalo, the first CDM Nauta Air 108’ that won the International Superyacht Society award in 2016.

The Nauta Air 110 is the sistership of Narvalo, the first 108, winner of the ISS 2016. Similar on the outside, these yachts are very different on the inside: tell us about Mimi La Sardine’s soul? MIMI’ LA SARDINE’s owners wanted their yacht to be like a beach house and life in close contact with the water became the yacht’s leit motif. Their brief chimed with our long-standing background in sailing yacht design, where contact with the elements is key to design philosophy. One of their principal requests was for the use of organic materials, elements that would bring the natural environment into the yacht. The interiors are pervaded by a vein of natural realism that is evident in the wood that is used throughout the yacht: aged oak that looks like driftwood, like natural sculptures washed up on the beach. This is where the yacht’s soul lies, in this use of natural materials that look like they have been aged after long contact with the elements. It’s a casual, almost carefree look that hides hard work and careful study.
